Mothman is an important figure in West Virgina folklore. Mothman is a flying humanoid creature that is believed to have inhabited Point Pleasant, West Virginia from November 15, 1966 to December 16, 1967. Mothman gained its name from a similarity to the villain Killer Moth in the Batman comics of the time. The creature gained infamy as it is said to have played a role in the collapse of the Silver Bridge which left 46 people dead. Alongside various other claims, Mothman is famous for appearing shortly before disasters occur.
